Specifications include, but are not limited to: Pop-up Food Access Events Coordination Contractor will facilitate food access through coordinating pop-up food access events hosted by community partners. Food sourced from local farms will be offered at affordable prices during outreach events for residents. The events will include the following services provided by subcontractors or vendors: Recipes and food education Tasting samples of healthy food Opportunity to purchase fresh food and/or receive free food purchased from local farmers. Access to wraparound and partner resources on site Local Food Processing Infrastructure Coordination Investment in processing operations will increase the range of access opportunities to food produced in Marion County. By taking steps to ensure this enterprise maintains community control, the contractor will begin development of infrastructure that will grow the food processing needs of community. Goals include: Increase the amount of food produced locally that can be captured and processed to increase fresh consumption or processed for consumption at a later date. Invest in supplies and equipment that will enable local producers and processors to make use of all, or as many as possible, local foods grown in the area. In partnership with a shared community kitchen, coordinate the creation of value-added and processed products that will bring local food to new market opportunities. Products will be comprised of fresh ingredients sourced from local farmers. Train interested farmers in health department regulations and processes to ensure food safety. Manage Hourly Subcontractors Hire current Value Chain Assistant contractor, Alysha Taylor, to help with value added processing and/or farm labor budgeted at 8 hours/week. Contractor may hire one (1) additional Value Chain Assistant as needed to help with value added processing and/or farm labor budgeted at 8 hours/week. Hire at least one (1) but up to four (4) Community Advocates to assist with community outreach at popup food access events budgeted at 8 hours/week.
