Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Agency’s Radiochemistry Laboratory is requesting bids for a Liquid Scintillation Counter (LSC) equipped with alpha/beta discrimination capabilities sensitive enough for low-level, environmental gross alpha/beta water analyses. The following features must be included: • Energy Detection Range: 0 – 2,000 keV • Minimum capacity of thirty-six 20-mL vials • Alpha/Beta Discrimination capabilities to separate alpha and beta counts from mixed samples • Equipped with external cooling temperature controls (~15oC) for sample stabilization • Utilizes three photomultiplier tubes for sample analysis • Equipped with an external RAD standard source (e.g., Eu-152 or Ba-133) to allow for quench corrections; source activity must be greater than 40 kBq, at the time of purchase. • A guard detector or other background reduction electronics or software may be incorporated to reduce the instrument background; if incorporated, must have the ability to turn off the guard when desired. • Live spectrum view of all counts • Instrument software must be compatible with Windows 10 or 11 • Instrument software must contain the ability to monitor the instrument’s response to alpha and beta standards as part of the instrument performance assessment checks • Electrical Requirements: 100-240V and 50/60Hz with 3-prong grounded plug • Include unquenched standards if required for instrument normalization purposes • All shipping & handling + installation fees • One-year warranty on all components
