The project will encompass multiple properties on Mount View Dr. off Clevinger Branch in Pike County, KY. Project Description: The project area is approximately 8 acres and the waste area is 2 acres. Any waste will be hauled to a site approximately one mile away. It will be filled and graded to promote drainage. Due to space constraints at the work site, all trees that are removed will need to be burned at the waste area for this project. Rocks falling from unstable pre-law highwall threaten the safety of citizens and structures in the area. This highwall will need to be cleaned of loose material including trees (greater than 3") that sit at the edge of the wall face. These trees pose a risk of falling onto structures below if a shift from loose material unsettles them. Buildings have been destroyed in the past from falling material so a highwall rock fall net will be installed on the cleaned face and covered in a layer of shotcrete to secure loose material. Scope of work on the highwall restoration should be entirely from the ground up. No equipment should be working on the highwall restoration from the area above. There is significant drainage from the pre-law mining that adversely impacts residences in the area of the project. Drains will be installed at the base of the highwall netting and shotcrete wall to drain runoff into existing systems. Existing drainage systems will be upgraded to handle the increase in flow and existing erosion will be repaired. Road repair will be completed and there will also be multiple erosion control barriers installed to prevent future erosion from increased flow. A habitat mitigation fee has been built into the project to account for removal of trees. This is due to the active bat season and an adequate area of removal has been factored in as a result. Trees will need to be removed due to the unstable ground they are growing on and the risk of falling onto persons and structures below. They will be burned at the waste area for this project due to space constraints at the main project site. There will be several trees greater than 3" DBH removed in the stable area to allow installation of the rock ditch. Bituminous repair and concrete has been included in the contract for access repair. Revegetation of the waste area and project site will be done according to AML specifications
