1. The turbine shall operate only in parallel with the utility electric service. a. Islanding of the plant is not required. 2. Turbine power shall serve plant loads. Any additional power produced by the turbine shall be exported to the utility grid. 3. The turbine control panel shall be designed to allow continuous operation (i.e. continuous run time over several months) of the generator or intermittent operation (i.e. starting/stopping daily as steam production warrants). 4. Turbine startup and shutdown shall be fully automated. When a start / stop command is issued, turbine shall go through all necessary startup / shutdown procedures, automatically synchronize to the electrical system and close / open the breaker. 5. The panel shall also allow for manual startup / shutdown, synchronization and 13.8kV breaker operation from both the panel front display and using remote commands from the plant control system. 6. The turbine power factor shall be adjustable. Power factor shall automatically adjust to maintain a plant power factor greater than 0.9. The system shall also allow for automatic adjustment of the turbine power factor from the panel front display, or through remote plant control system commands.
