This is an opportunity for interested parties to help UTA best understand industry perspectives. This Request for Information (RFI) is an information gathering tool, not a formal solicitation of a specific requirement (such as in a “Request for Proposals” document). UTA is seeking information regarding S-Line Extension and Double Tracking draft Request for Qualifications (RFQu) from interested parties as defined in this RFI document. This is an opportunity for interested parties to help UTA better understand industry perspectives. The project scope of work consists of two segments. The first segment, the S-Line streetcar extension, includes the design and construction of a single embedded track for the extension of the S-Line from the current end of line at Fairmont Station, east to the proposed new station and platform located just west of Highland Drive. The alignment includes the space for a future second track to be added. The second segment, the double tracking, includes adding a siding track in order provide for additional double tracking between the end of the existing double track just east of 500 East to just west of the 700 East station, to allow for required headways for transit operations. This segment will include adding turnouts to provide for the siding track. The S-Line extension segment work will include embedded track, special trackwork, OCS, communications, temporary facilities, and other appurtenances consistent with the existing as-built plans and specifications of the prior project and in accordance with UTA’s design criteria. The S-Line extension will include adding a turnout capable of being powered in the future when the S-Line is extended further into the Salt Lake City area. Until that time, it will not be operated. The infrastructure and provisions for the future powering of the turnout and the control and communications connections to the future signal house location will be required to be included in the project. The crossing of McClelland Street will include the installation of appropriate traffic signals and train controls. The design of the signal shall be coordinated with Salt Lake City.
