New HVAC Units New units must have a minimum of a one-year parts and labor warranty and a five-year compressor warranty from date of installation, testing and acceptance. New units must include associated louver kits. Vendors may submit quotations for equivalent items provided those items meet all the exact physical, functional, and performance characteristics. The contractor shall provide, at his cost, for onsite repairs within 24 hours of notification of any operational problem or failure within the warranty period. Existing ducting can be reused if it is clean and not torn or defective in any way. Properly seal all ducting connections. Contractor must: Make sure ground is level and site prepared before placing new unit. Disconnect and remove existing units and install new unit in same location. Power will be provided via a preinstalled transformer and disconnect mounted to the exterior wall near existing units. Ensure condensers include wall mount kits and be mounted at a location agreed upon by SCDJJ. Dispose of old equipment and trash daily. The Contractor will be responsible for the proper handling of all waste and clean up from the project including all disposal costs at the contractor’s sole expense. Ensure a line hide is used on the exterior line set. Repair any holes left in the walls. The holes must be covered with a minimum 24-gauge galvanized sheet and sealed to provide a weather-tight finished product. Reconnect existing building controls. Suspend air handlers in the ceiling above acoustical drop ceiling. Be solely responsible for all existing ceiling removal and replacement. Schedule work at least forty-eight (48) hours in advance. Ensure building controls are reconnected. Demonstrate that any controls are functional and have a successful startup. SCDJJ Project Manager must sign off after the demonstration. Contractor Shall: Existing drain pan may be reused if deemed acceptable by the SCDJJ Project Manager. Existing line sets may be reused but must be flushed thoroughly and pressure tested for leaks. Line set leakage within the first year will be the sole responsibility of the Contractor for replacement and/or repair costs. Line sets must be insulated from the air handler to the condensing unit. Existing electrical disconnects may be reused. If Contractor deems disconnect unacceptable, SCDJJ will be responsible for replacements. The Contractor shall comply with all applicable safety provisions.
