Specifications include, but are not limited to: (Phase 1) Work with the County Manager, the Sheriff’s Office, members of the Burke County staff and other county officials to clarify the usage needs for the building. Assist the County with planning & programing for Detention Facilities. Develop design drawings, initial construction specifications and cost estimates for approval by the Burke County Commission. (Phase 2) 1. Upon notification that funds are available, prepare final construction documents, drawings, and specifications for approval by the County Commission. The documents will meet all legal requirements, regulations, and professional standards for public buildings, especially emergency operations facilities. 2. Assist county officials in preparing bidding documents, evaluating bids by contractors, and preparing construction contracts. 3. Provide assistance in administering the construction contract by visiting the site on a mutually determined schedule to review the progress and quality of work. Determine the amounts owed to the contractor as the work progresses and certify payments.
