Specifications include, but are not limited to: The work to be done shall consist of the removal of existing non-compliant sidewalls at crosswalks and installing ADA compliant ramps, as well as constructing ADA sidewalk ramps where they do not currently exist in preparation for bituminous asphalt road or parking lot paving improvements, in accordance with The City of Danbury, Engineering Division, Public Works Department, General Information and Guide, latest revision, as well as the construction details required to meet ADA regulations. It is the bid contractor’s responsibility to be completely knowledgeable of the details of construction related to this work as defined in the guide and the Federal Act. The General Information and Guide is available for viewing on the Engineering Dept. page of the City of Danbury website – https://www.danbury-ct.gov/186/Engineering The Contractor shall furnish all labor, tools, supplies, and other facilities and means necessary or proper perform operations as described, and to include all handwork as necessary for the completion of sidewalk sections that include ADA Ramps, and all related work as detailed herein. The contractor is responsible for setting the grade relative to paved and adjacent surfaces, proper slope and distances to comply with ADA regulations. Each unit price shall include but not be limited to all incidental work described herein. Roadway saw cuts are to be 1’- 0” from face of curb. Sidewalk saw cuts are to be at section joints only. Excess excavated materials will be removed from the jobsite and legally disposed of by the contractor. After concrete forms are stripped and removed native fill is to be raked against sidewalks, and process (provided by the contractor) is to be filled and tamped to final grade in the road excavation, film over the Tactile strips are to be removed. The jobsite and staging sites are to be raked and left clean, free of materials and debris. The contractor is responsible for the protection of the completed work from vehicular and pedestrian traffic until concrete comes to full strength. Danbury Public Works Crews will final pave and topsoil completed work.
