Specifications include, but are not limited to: South East Corner of North Midwest Boulevard and NE 10th Street • This location is the suggested starting point. If it is replaced before the North Midwest Boulevard and Arbor Drive location, it can be used to reduce the time frame the water will be turned off when the second valve is replaced. • This existing line is Ductile Iron Pipe. • The existing butterfly valve’s operating nut is ten to eleven feet deep. • This location replaces 24” butterfly valve only, it leaves the 8” bypass in place. • The depth of the valve will require the removal and replacement of the outside northbound lane of North Midwest Boulevard. • During this work the water line will have to be closed the entire mile section south from Reno Avenue north to N.E. 10th Street. • The water will also have to be shut off to both the west and east of the intersections as necessary. • The Public Works Department will be on site to oversee the shutdown of the City’s water system. South East Corner of North Midwest Boulevard and Arbor Drive • This location is suggested to be the second work area. • This existing line is Ductile Iron Pipe • The existing butterfly valve’s operating nut is five to six feet deep. • This location replaces both the 24” butterfly valve and the 8” bypass valve. • This location should not require any removal of N.E. 10th Street, just traffic control to create a larger work area. • During this work the water line will have to be closed the entire mile section south from Reno Avenue north to N.E. 10th Street, but this time the new valve can be utilized. • Again, the water will also have to be shut off to both the west and east of the intersections as necessary. • The Public Works Department will be on site to oversee the shutdown of the City’s water system.
