Specifications include, but are not limited to: The project involves prescribed grazing with goats, sheep or other grazing livestock as appropriate to control vegetation during the growing season from May to October but may be determined by vegetation height and the bird nesting season. Grazing shall be conducted with hardy, healthy animals that have been exposed to and foraged a variety of vegetation. Goat herds may be comprised of mixed-age goats, however, adult goats at least one year of age should comprise at least 50% of the herd. Grazing should include a high stocking rate, multi-paddock, rotational grazing strategy to facilitate careful management of the vegetation being grazed. A map of the island is attached to this document, and descriptions of the size, vegetation makeup, and the County goals for vegetative control are included. Goals include: 1. Annual control of vegetation to allow for future use as a recreation area. 2. Desired residual vegetation after grazing is for all herbaceous vegetation grazed to approximately 12” in height. 3. Vegetative control throughout the growing season. The County reserves the right to modify the project goals upon consultation with the Contractor.
