Specifications include, but are not limited to: a) Animal Microchips – 12 Guage i. Dimensions 12mm or smaller ii. Microchip is housed in hermetically sealed bio-compatible glass iii. Average weight .06 grams or less iv. Temperature range 40 to 70 degrees centigrade v. ISO-compliant (134.2 kHz) operating range vi. Read range by universal scanner vii. 12 Gauge Pre-loaded individual syringe in sterile single use packaging viii. Non migrating ix. Subcutaneous implantation x. Stickers with Microchip number for use in charts, paperwork, etc. xi. Microchip and implanting needle are individually packaged in sterile packaging; these packages can be further bundled or part of larger packaging. xii. Preferred, but not mandatory, depending on cost: ID tag and ring (includes Microchip number and pet recovery service number on tag) b) Universal Microchip Scanner xiii. Must detect all frequencies and brands of microchips and accurately display the microchip ID number. xiv. Scanner must be portable and handheld. c) Daily communication between contractor’s software and shelter’s management software or via email of a CSV list or spreadsheet is required to batch upload and update chip registration to national database. Automated upload is required. County will not utilize a manual upload process. d) Provide PACC with immediate access to registered pet owner information and trackback information (who chip was sold to originally). e) Contractor must provide free address changes for owners, with no additional fees for the life of the pet. f) Compare owner data/address in their system against a national change of address database a minimum of one time per year (annually). g) Participates in the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) microchip lookup database/webpage. h) Contractor will not sell, share, publish or otherwise disseminate the personal or pet information provided by PACC with any subsidiary, partner, affiliate or third party, beyond that which is reasonably needed to reunite a lost pet with its owner...
