It is also part of the Department of Education’s ongoing initiative to revitalize Delaware’s public middle and high schools. The initiative, driven by educators, students, parents, business leaders and college professors emphasizes the need to do more to prepare students to graduate from high school, and succeed in college and careers. Central to the Students Success Plan Program, is the need for an interactive, highly user friendly web based tool that students can use to develop portfolios that include learning about career and colleges, setting academic goals, creating resumes, conducting job searches and selecting appropriate courses to achieve their goals. Students will be guided through this learning process by school counselors and teachers in grades 6-12. The web based tool should be structured to support an advisory program that engages school counselors, teachers, community mentors and parents in supporting students through the planning for college and careers.
