Specifications include, but are not limited to: The work shall include the removal of the existing lead service from service (or steel pipe water service), install and connect new 1 inch type k seamless copper tubing (ASTM Specification B88 of the latest revision) from the curb stop through the foundation wall and connect new copper service to meter tail piece. The service shall be installed at minimum depth of 4’-6”. The new copper service shall have a new 1 inch lead free ball valve installed just before the meter tail piece and all fittings used to make this connection shall be lead free. Whenever possible the new copper service shall use the same penetration through the foundation as the existing service. The ancillary area between the foundation and the new copper service shall be sealed as to prevent ground water from entering the basement of the building. Care shall be exercised to avoid excessive damage to the lawn, trees and other plantings as well as the building. The new copper service shall be a continuous length of copper from the connection at the curb stop to the connection at the meter if the service is under 60 feet. The scope of the work includes repair, regrade and/or reseed all lawns and plantings damaged during the construction work. Any damage to the building shall be repaired. If the new water service requires the excavation of concrete (or bituminous) sidewalks slabs they shall be replaced in kind.
