Specifications include, but are not limited to: The University of Utah (University) on behalf of the Biology Department is seeking a UAV and Sensor Equipment for Forest Research vendor (Vendor). Proposed items or systems must be able to provide services as described in the attached scope of work and minimum specifications. We are aiming to visit several forest sites that are known to be experiencing forest mortality so that we can generate high quality, high resolution imagery that catalogues the location and status of climate-stressed trees. These data will be used to calibrate and validate algorithms for forest mortality detection using spaceborne time series of thermal data. We will use the lidar from the ZenMuse L2 to help delineate individual trees and differentiate trees from shrubs. We will use the multispectral imagery from the RedEdge-P to help characterize the live, dead, or stressed status of trees. Both the ZenMuse L2 and RedEdge-P will be flown together on the DJI Matrice 350. We are also seeking the Mavic 3T to experiment with the potential for scaling thermal data from plot to regional scale. We need the ground control points and Trimble to develop very high precision geolocation of our imagery.
