Specifications include, but are not limited to: The objective is to contract with a knowledgeable FORESTER that shall be responsible for all tasks related to managing the pine plantations while accommodating the ecosystem management and the water resource protection components for the Cross Bar / Al Bar Ranch property. The Forester will work cooperatively with the County, the Land Manager and Ecologist on all aspects of managing the property, and work to develop a team approach to help ensure all decisions are made in the best interest of the County and the property. Contractor responsibilities include evaluation of current Forestry Management Program, the current conditions of the 3,810.2 acres of slash pine plantations on the Cross Bar and Al Bar Ranch property, and identification of areas of concern with recommended improvement strategies. Related tasks include seasonal forestry health surveys, possible grant and cooperative funding proposals, maintain a GIS/geodatabase and associated maps, and exploration of potential additional revenue opportunities. Some tasks will be performed with cooperation and support of the contracted Ecological Consultant and Land Manager. For example, FORESTER may also work with the Ecological Consultant in Long Leaf, Sandhill, or other forested habitat restoration, or direct the Land manager on timber plantation maintenance needs.
