Specifications include, but are not limited to: Complete and satisfactory construction of installation of: - Bridge Removal (2) o Continental Mill Pedestrian Bridge o Miller/Weisman Pedestrian Bridge Work includes the removal of two (2) steel-beam pedestrian bridges spanning the Lower Canal. The southerly-facing bridge (Continental Mill Pedestrian Bridge) is made up of rolled steel beams stacked on top of one another spanning 58’-0” between the canal walls. The stacked beams are spaced at 9’-10” on center. Most of the timber deck has deteriorated or been removed. Two sets of utilities hang from the steel floor beams. The utilities are assumed to be decommissioned. A bridge rail made up of 5x5 posts and top rail is mounted to the top flange of the beams. The bridge railing is clad in timber and topped with a sheet metal cap. The bridge is closed and is in serious condition. Chain link fences at each abutment prohibit public access to the bridge. The fence on the east end of the bridge is secure, but there are openings in the fence on the west end. There is moderate rust on the built-up steel girders and the steel floor beams. The timber sleepers/plates and timber railing are in serious condition.
