The Great Lakes Water Authority (GLWA) requests bids from construction companies (“Contractor”) to facilitate the construction of the Northwest Interceptor (NWI) to Oakwood CSO Sewer (NOCSOS) per the Specifications and Plans. The Work for the NOCSOS is in the City of Detroit near the I-75 Rouge River Bridge, extending to Bayside Street to the north and Pleasant Street to the south. This Project includes the construction of a 50-foot diameter and 50-foot deep drilled secant pile mining/launching shaft, a 50-foot diameter and 40-foot deep drilled secant pile diversion shaft (including 13’ precut), 25-foot diameter and 50-foot deep drilled secant pile drop shaft (including 13’ pre-cut), 25- foot diameter and 50 foot deep drilled secant pile connecting shaft, 14-foot diameter and 50 foot deep drilled secant pile manhole shaft, and a 10-foot finished diameter approximately 3,500-foot long segmental concrete-lined tunnel, installed using pressurized face Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM). The finished tunnel will connect the NWI to Junction Chamber No. 1 (JC #1) at the Oakwood CSO Control Facility in Detroit, MI. The Project includes various ancillary facilities and Work. Upon completion of this Project, the constructed shafts, gates, and tunnels that comprise the new NWI to Oakwood CSO Sewer will be used to provide flow diversion as necessary to the Oakwood CSO Control Facility during wet weather to help control surcharging in the NWI. This Project also includes the repair/replacement of two pinch valves located in Junction Chamber No. 1 on the dry weather flow channels.
