Specifications include, but are not limited to: 1. Meet and greet the public. 2. Research locations of the graves. 3. Compile, maintain, and research records and report openings and closings of graves. Contractor’s obligations under this Agreement shall include, but not be limited to the following: A. BURIAL ACTIVITIES. Contractor shall be required to do the following activities: 1. Open graves and close graves as requested by the City at the location and under the time parameters required by the City. Contractor shall be available to perform this activity at any time requested by the City. 2. Landscape new graves with sod, with said sod being provided at Contractor’s expense. Contractor may seed over newly closed graves in winter months but must sod these graves by or before May 1 of the following year unless a stand of grass that is acceptable to City has been established by April 20 of the following year. 3. Relocate graves as required by City, with all grave sites disturbed during this activity to be seeded, sodded, and/or landscaped as per item #2. 4. Open graves for relocation to other Cemeteries as required by City. Grave sites disturbed during this activity are to be seeded, sodded and/or landscaped as per item #2. 5. Excess soil from grave opening shall be hauled to a location on Cemetery property designated by Cemetery Sexton. The Contractor shall, at least quarterly, spread and compact excess soil to the line and grade of the surrounding property, as directed by the City, and shall establish a lush stand of grass over graded areas. 6. Attend all City Commission Meetings and Cemetery Board Meetings when requested by City Manager or a member of the Commission or Board. B. GROUNDS MAINTENANCE ACTIVITIES. Contractor shall be required to perform the following ground maintenance activities: Continuous mowing of grass during growing season. Grass height is not to exceed 4 ½ inches anywhere in the Cemetery at any time throughout the season. Due to continued mowing throughout the years in the same direction and in the same tracks, aesthetics of the cemetery has suffered, and the City requests some areas be mowed in a different direction in order to improve the appearance of the cemetery grounds. 2. Weedeat all areas that the mower misses. The height of grass trimmed under this provision is to be consistent (within one inch) with the height of grass required in item #1 of this Section. 3. Weedeat around base of fences and edge of roadway, and around structures, benches, trees and shrubs. The height of grass trimmed under this provision is to be consistent (within 1 inch) to with the height of grass required in item #1 of this Section. 4. Edge around headstones and footstones with weedeater. The height of the grass trimmed under this provision shall be consistent (within 1 inch) with the height of grass required in Item #1 of this section. No non-selective herbicide shall be used to trim around tombstones or used anywhere inside of the cemetery grounds without the express written consent of the Cemetery Sexton, with the one exception being the chain link fence surrounding the north and east sides of the Cemetery. 5. Collect and dispose of leaves when they start to fall until they stop falling. All leaves must be collected and removed from the premises by or before December 15 of each year during Agreement term. The leaves may be mulched in place or raked into piles along the street to be collected as part of the city’s regular leaf collection program. 6. Aerate soil every Spring and as requested by City. In areas where the turf has become very thick the contractor at the request of the City will dethatch these areas in order to improve overall health and appearance of the Cemetery grass. This must be completed annually by or before April 1st of each year during the term of this Agreement. 7. Apply grass seed over existing turf to maintain grass quality, with grass seed of 50- 200 pounds per acre to be applied every spring and as requested by City. The grass seed used shall be a turf-type fescue approved by the Cemetery Sexton. Grass seeding must be completed annually by or before April 1 of each year during the term of this Agreement unless other arrangements are approved by the City. 8. Fertilize Cemetery each spring, with 300-500 pounds per acre of Scotts Turf Builder Fertilizer or equivalent fertilizer approved by City. Fertilizing must be completed by March 15th of each year during the term of this Agreement unless other arrangements are approved by the City. 9. Lime once a year with a pelletized lime or approved equal, with said lime being applied at 1500 pounds per acre or as requested by City. Liming must be completed by March 15th of each year during the term of the Agreement unless other arrangements are approved by the City. 10. Obtain and analyze representative soil samples each year, prior to accomplishing items 7, 8 and 9 of this section. Application rates of fertilizer and lime shall be adjusted to recommended levels, based upon the recommendations of the soil scientist. Soil tests shall be analyzed through the Extension Service at Franklin, Kentucky, or other comparable agency approved by the City. Results of the soil sample testing to be submitted to the City, in writing, prior to commencing work on items 7, 8, and 9 of this section.
