Specifications include, but are not limited to: 4.1. A Security Agency Supervisor must be accessible during the shift hours to respond to any emergencies or problems that arise. This is mandatory. 4.2. Agency Supervisors must inspect assigned locations and personnel weekly on a non-scheduled basis. 4.3. Guards are expected to be on time for operations. Guards are expected to remain on site until the end of shift, rain or shine, unless the Director or Assistant Director of Parks and Recreation, his/her agent, or Police or Fire officers direct otherwise. 4.4. Security guards are to be in military-style uniforms or as may be further established by the Parks and Recreation Department and the Contracting Company. Uniforms are to be neat and clean at all times. 4.5. The Town expects the Security guards to be respectful and courteous to the public at all times. Guards must be thoroughly familiar with all beach rules and regulations. Guards must be sure the rules are adhered to at all times. All security guards must have the ability to communicate rules, regulations, and Town Ordinances to the public. 4.6. The Town expects the Security guards to keep all activity/incident logs up to date. Any unusual incidents shall be reported as soon as possible. 4.7. Security guards are not to use Town phones for any personal business. No personal longdistance phone calls are permitted under any circumstances. In the event any calls are made during a shift, the security agency will be responsible for all expenses. 4.8. Security guards are not permitted to accept a gratuity under any circumstance. Security guards will only allow access to a park at which they are stationed to those holding permits, authorized Town employees and officials, or those paying appropriate guest fees. 4.9. Any unruly behavior shall be immediately reported to the Darien Police Department. 4.10. Guards will be required to check entering vehicles for proper permits (cars and boats) and collect daily fees for cars without the proper sticker or permit. Each paying patron must receive a copy of the receipt. Credit card payments are the only form of payment accepted, and a copy of that receipt will be filed in the guard booth. No cash will be accepted. Sales must be logged in a journal provided by the security company. The Town prefers assigned staff to have experience with credit card collections. Fees are as follows: daily vehicle entrance $53 (which includes CT sales tax); daily boat launch (any boat brought into any beach on a trailer) $70. 4.11. Weed Beach Movie & Family Concert Dates: The general public will be admitted free of charge from 5:00 pm to attend movies & family concerts on dates specified; therefore, stickers on vehicles are not required. Dates are to be determined by the Parks & Recreation Department and will be supplied to the gate personnel. 4.12. Weed Beach Tennis Lessons/Block Tennis: Anyone registered for Darien Parks and Recreation Department tennis lessons will be admitted free of charge during their scheduled tennis lessons. Anyone with reserved court time will be admitted free of charge during their scheduled court time. The Parks and Recreation Department will provide a schedule. 4.13. Weed Beach Darien Junior Sailing Team Program & all Darien Parks & Recreation Programs: Anyone participating in the Darien Junior Sailing Team program or any Darien Parks & Recreation Program will be admitted free of charge during program hours. The Parks and Recreation Department will provide a schedule. 4.14. Kayaking/Paddleboard lessons & rentals: Anyone participating in the ThumbsUp kayaking or paddleboard program must show a paid receipt to the guard if they do not have a beach permit on their vehicle. 4.15. The Town of Darien reserves the right to interview and approve the guard(s) assigned to the Darien beaches. 4.16. Any Guard not performing the duties of the position according to these specifications or violating any regulation, law, or behavior deemed inappropriate will be dismissed immediately or at any time, at the discretion of the Director of Parks and Recreation or his/her designee. 4.17. The Contractor is required to immediately replace any guard absent or dismissed from their post for any reason.
