Applicants receiving an award are responsible for utilizing these funds to carry out activities that advance student achievement and support student success, including but not limited to: Providing a state approved dyslexia screener for all students in kindergarten and first grade. Providing instructional materials that support general education students. Providing a dyslexia therapist or a dyslexia therapist in training for students with a diagnosis of dyslexia. Providing instructional interventions that are Orton-Gillingham based, multi-sensory, systematic, explicit, and language-based. Providing pre- and post-assessments to evaluate students’ progress and program implementation. Providing instructional resources for students that are specific to the selection of the dyslexia programs (readers, workbooks, manipulatives, large print paper, etc.). Subgrantees are also obligated under Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, and the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act to ensure that their proposed program activities are outlined and are accessible to persons with disabilities.
