The City of Hays invites your firm to submit a written proposal for the Engineering Design Services for reconstruction of the existing concrete pavement of 32nd/33rd Street from the alley west of Willow Street to Vine Street. The existing pavement is proposed to be removed and replaced with 8” non-reinforced dowel jointed (NRDJ) Portland Cement Concrete Pavement (PCCP) on a 6” crushed stone base and geosynthetic reinforcement. For this design it is assumed that curb and gutter, sidewalk, and entrance pavement will only be replaced as needed. In the cost estimate, it is assumed that 5% of these items will be replaced. ADA-compliant sidewalk ramps will need to be constructed at all sideroad intersections. Also included with this design are improvements to the geometry at the northeast radius of Skyline Drive and 33rd Street. It is proposed to widen the northeast curb return to a 25’ radius to allow traffic to more easily navigate the intersection while turning at this quadrant of the intersection. Widening the radius will require extending the existing reinforced concrete box culvert structure under 32nd/33rd Street approximately 8’-0” to the north.
