The Sullivan County Department of Education has completed the design phase for the West Ridge High School Access Driveway. The new entrance will be constructed with access to the school campus off Henry Harr Road. The new entrance onto the high school campus will be between the Tennis Courts and the current Band Practice Field, which will become a paved parking lot as part of this project. Construction of the Access Driveway is anticipated to begin in April 2024. With most of the construction work occurring during the late Spring and Summer months, to be completed by Fall 2024. The approximate length of the new road will be 1,400 feet with a majority of the roadway cross section having 12-foot travel lanes, a 4-foot paved shoulder on the westbound lane, and a concrete curb on the east bound lane, and some sections with guard rail. Associated improvements will consist of storm drain systems, a box culvert where it crosses Russell Creek, and an extended detention stormwater management basin. The Band Practice field will be used as the primary staging area and then restored as a paved parking lot.
