Specifications include, but are not limited to: Mille Lacs County’s primary project will include the remodel, or remodel and re-design of the Jail facility to become a Class III facility, with both options to include functional improvements to allow for fullutilization of the jail basement, and options for utilization of any remaining or resultant vacant space within and/or immediately adjacent to the existing facility to provide for a long-term (25 year) solution. The jail will have an intake facility, medical facility, kitchen, laundry, programs space and other supporting functions. The project should address the needs identified in recent Minnesota Department of Corrections Inspections such as the kitchen, laundry, medical and booking / intake area which have all been identified as being undersized. It should also address the lack of natural lighting, poor sightlines for inmate observation, cast iron plumbing, electrical and HVAC concerns that have been identified issues in as well.
