Specifications include, but are not limited to: Repairs needed to the existing cupola include repairing flashing, wood decking, and trim around the cupola and repainting the cupola. In order to access the flashing and roof decking, the existing slate tile will need to be carefully removed. This existing tile will be reinstalled after work is completed. However, in anticipation of the possibility tiles may need replaced or may be damaged during work, two squares of Buckingham slate roof tile that match the existing tile will need to be sourced and purchased to have on hand. The cost to purchase and deliver two squares of the matching Buckingham slate roof tile should be included in the bid. The City will keep any unused tile for future repairs. In order to be considered, bidders must submit documentation of experience working with natural slate roofing materials with references and any applicable certifications. In addition, they must identify a source for the 2 squares of slate that are to be purchased for this job and for future inventory. Once existing tile surrounding the cupola is removed, any needed repairs should be made to the wood decking, flashing, trim and structure around the cupola. Peeling paint should be scraped from the siding and trim as needed and the exterior wood should be sanded and primed with an oil based primer. The cupola should be painted with two coats of an oil based finish paint. The existing roof should be coated with an acrylic roof coating prior to reinstalling the existing slate tile and tying back into the existing roofing system.
