Specifications include, but are not limited to: Provide student mentors for students that are fully trained with demonstrated experience in best practice student engagement and mentoring strategies specifically with opportunity youth. The provided mentors will: Provide coaching and guidance to students to help them develop skills to achieve their high school, college, career, and life goals, including student engagement and re-engagement in educational opportunities, academic strategies and accessing resources. Develop and maintain relationships with students and families focused on motivating and helping students create, sustain and/or re-establish a sense of commitment, belonging and connectedness to their educational journey and educational community. Collaborate with campus and district staff to coordinate communication and connections between students and caring staff. Schedule and meet with students regularly to discuss their progress, advise, assist youth in identifying life and academic goals, plan for their future and build relationships. Conduct frequent check-ins via approved district communication methods. Conduct home and school visits to check-in and deliver resources as needed, per the established district protocols for home visits. Collaborate with administration and other support staff to anticipate and meet students’ academic and non-academic needs directly and/or referrals as appropriate. Provide a staffing plan that allows for the gradual increase of resources as needed. Provide an assigned supervisor to coordinate with PXU designated staff in managing the efforts of student mentors. Provide a best practice mentoring framework to be used in collaboration with PXU systems, processes, and practices. Provide continued training and support to mentors to be effective in their roles. Assist mentors in navigating more complex scenarios in supporting students. The vendor and student mentors will adhere to all FERPA and HIPPA guidelines.
