Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Department of Health (DOH) Family Health Services Division (FHSD) is seeking comments and feedback for purposes of developing a statewide consultation line with the goal to improve the quality and accessibility of mental health services for children ages 0 to 21. Service includes telehealth/telephone consultation for pediatric primary care Providers and a referral and coordinated intake service system. A recent survey by the Hawaii Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics ranked access to timely mental health services as the second most critical advocacy topic, just slightly below vaccines. Pediatric providers serving children ages 0-21 are potentially eligible to receive services. Access to mental health care services will reduce morbidity and mortality by providing timely, appropriate, and less expensive care, and thereby prevent the development and exacerbation of serious health conditions.
