Specifications include, but are not limited to: 10. Street Repair. Work on this project consists of partial depth asphalt repair, thermal crack repair, and curb and gutter repair, concrete base repair, and thermal crack repair City-wide as directed by the Engineer. The cost shall include all the necessary work to complete the repairs such as pavement removal and compaction of sub-grade. Tentative quantities and locations are shown in Attachment I. All construction materials and debris generated from the street repair shall be swept up from the street surface, gutter, and driveway approaches and removed from the job site by the street repair contractor. All cleanup associated with the street repair operation is considered subsidiary to other bid items. All the asphalt used on this project shall be BM-2 (PG 64-22 max 35% RAP) for Base Course and BM-2 (PG 64-22 max 15% RAP) for Surface Course. Partial-depth Asphalt Repairs. Work consists of milling 2” to 4” of asphalt pavement thickness and replacing with 2” to 4” asphalt surface coarse. Depth of cut will be determined by the project inspector. Asphalt repairs shall be compacted to 95% density. The partial-depth asphalt repair shall be paid in tons of asphalt and be classified as Surface Course. Thermal Crack Repairs (Heavy Duty). Work consists of cold milling a two and one half foot (2.5’) wide strip of asphalt to a depth of three and one half inches (3.5”). Contractor shall clean the milled surface prior to tack placement. Place tack oil on the milled surface, followed by a 1” level-up course. Level-up course shall be a BM-2 surface mix. The level-up course will be tacked, followed by placing a 2.5’ wide strip of Knitted Fiberglass Reinforcement centered on the joint. See City Approved Material List for approved reinforcements. If contractor uses multiple pieces of fiberglass reinforcement in a single thermal crack repair, a minimum six-inch overlap is required between pieces. Next, place 2.5” BM-2 surface course. All of the work necessary to complete thermal crack repair shall be incidental to bid item Thermal crack repair (Heavy Duty)(2.5’ wide) and will be paid by the linear foot (LF).
