Specifications include, but are not limited to: 1. Remove and replace concrete where indicated by COR a. Demolition 1. Contractor is responsible for assuring all underground utilities are properly marked and located. 2. Concrete to be removed shall be saw cut a minimum of three inches through the joint of the adjacent slab. 3. Demolition shall be done in manner to avoid damage to the slabs that are to remain in place. 1. Contractor shall take care to avoid damage and spalling of adjacent slabs due to inefficient demolition methods. 2. Damage to existing slabs caused by contractor demolition shall be repaired and/or replaced (at the contracting officer’s discretion) at no additional cost to the CDA. a) Contractor shall avoid damage to existing structures, vegetation, private and CDA owned property. b) Contractor shall employ measures to protect existing concrete pads and structures from staining or damage caused by machinery (tire marks from spinning), portland stains from over-pour and screeding, staining from sawcut residue, etc. c) Contractor is responsible for pedestrian and traffic control throughout all phases of the project. Coordination is required through building management personnel for all closures. d) All removed (demolition) concrete shall be removed from the CDA premises on the day that it is excavated. 1. Contractor shall not store demolition spoil on site. Prepare sub grade: a) Contractor shall assure acceptable subgrade. 1. Contractor shall remove any sub-standard existing subgrade up to 2 inches. 2. Subgrade shall be compacted to 95% at optimum moisture content for site specific existing sub base a) Prior to concrete placement contractor shall schedule sub base inspection with the COR. b) Compaction testing is not required if sub base inspection is scheduled with COR. c) COR retains the right to reject the subgrade based on perceived moisture and compaction deficiencies. 1.
