Please note: This is a Sole Source Notification. The Washington Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory is the only laboratory that offers specific tests frequently needed by Utah DWR, such as serology for Mycoplasma ovipneumoniae, PCR for leukotoxin A, culture and MALDI-TOF specifically validated for certain wildlife respiratory pathogens, and strain typing. Diagnostic testing is essential for monitoring disease in Utahs wildlife population. Mycoplasma ovipneumoniae is a bacteria that is devastating Bighorn Sheep populations across the western United States and has recently also been implicated in mountain goat disease outbreaks with high mortalities. The UDWR bases many management decisions on disease surveillance results.
