Specifications include, but are not limited to: Canine Training – Drug Detection Dog • Vendor will provide two (2) police drug detection canines imprinted with the following odors: Methamphetamine, Cocaine, Heroin and Fentanyl. Dog breed is not specified, but preference may be given to those offering typical sporting breeds associated with detections dogs, such as Labrador, German Short Haired Pointer, English Springer Spaniel etc. Other breeds may be considered upon availability. • Imprinting will be accomplished with real drug training aids (TA), not artificial odors. Trainer should be able to provide lab testing results for training aids upon request. • Canines will be trained with a passive alert. • Detection Handler training program o ODOC will provide two inexperienced, new dog handlers to each be paired and trained with a dog. o Upon conclusion of the training period, both teams will successfully certify via the Oregon Police Canine Association’s (OPCA) certification process for detection dogs. • Vendor will guarantee dog, effective from the date of purchase, for: o 100% health for six (6) months o Skeletal for twelve (12) months o If a genetic or hereditary problem is found, canine will be replaced – vendor will be allowed to seek a second opinion from a licensed veterinarian.
