Specifications include, but are not limited to: The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) is soliciting for the application of Reflectorized Paint Pavement Markings in Cherokee, Chesterfield and York Counties in accordance with the below specifications. Work to begin on 4/01/2024 and completed and invoiced by 6/30/2024. Bidder must have the resources to fulfill the requirements listed within the allotted time period. Contractor must paint over existing markings only. Contractor shall adhere to Section 625 of the SCDOT Standard Specifications for Highway Construction. (Attachment D). Section 1 – General Requirements 1.1 Permanent Pavement Markings Fast Dry Waterborne Paint: described herein shall include the furnishing of all implements, machinery, equipment, tools, materials, transportation, labor, personal protective equipment, licenses, fuel, incidentals, work zone traffic control and associated devices to install new or refresh old 4” pavement lines, including both white and yellow markings. Skip lines will be paid for by the total length that material is applied. This work will include 2’ mini skips and 10’ skip lines (both white and yellow). All work shall be subject to the supervision and satisfaction of the Department. The Contractor shall thoroughly clean all dust, grease, oil and foreign matter prior to application. The Contractor shall perform application on dry surfaces only. SCDOT does not anticipate the edges of pavement to need cleaning prior to the application of paint. However, if the contractor determines the edges need cleaning, contractor shall skip this road and notify the Engineer. The Contractor shall apply primer sealer when applicable (based on type of marking material and surface). The Contractor shall remove curing compound from concrete surfaces prior to installing application. The Contractor shall apply marking material(s) at the specified location, pattern, and alignment on the pavement surface. Material must have sufficient glass beads to produce maximum adhesion, refraction, and reflection during the life of the marking applied at 15 mils wet film thickness. Gaps between painted segments must not vary more than +/- 6" from specified dimensions. Lines shall be free of waviness and lateral deviations must not exceed 2 inches in 15 feet. Contractor shall retain all field notes and documentation of all Manufacturers’ Certifications. All debris resulting from reflectorized paint pavement markings must be removed from the right-of-way by the conclusion of each business day. The Contractor shall be responsible for adhering to all State and Federal regulatory requirements for debris disposal. The Contractor is responsible for fees associated with disposal.
