Specifications include, but are not limited to: EQUIPMENT SPECFICATIONS • Mower/brush cutter must be adequate to chop brush and trees up to 3 inches in diameter. • Due to rough terrain, rocks, stumps, and other roadside irregularities, sickle mowers will not be allowed. Rotary head mowers are preferred. • Cutting head must be attached on a knuckle boom to reach out into ditches, since there are no shoulders on most roads and ditches are mostly soft/wet. Cutting head must tilt in all directions to be able to remove vegetation from sloped right-of-ways. • Vehicle must display a flashing light, visible from front and rear, and a “Slow Moving Vehicle” sign, visible from the rear, while operating. • Contractor shall affix adequate guards on machine to protect employees, road users, and bystanders. • Contractor must clean cutting heads of mower between mowing sites. PROJECT SPECFICATIONS • All work must be done to the satisfaction of the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources Project Supervisor or his appointee. All job approvals will be through the Project Supervisor. • Contractor shall bear all cost for transportation, equipment, labor, tools and all else necessary to complete the contract work. • Grass, brush, and small trees (up to 3" diameter) shall be cut within 6 inches of the ground surface when mowing or brushing. • Travel speed while mowing or brushing must be regulated by the operator such that all target plants are severed. Bending over of grasses and/or partial cutting of shrub and tree stems within the target zone is not acceptable. • Slash generated from mowing shall be kept off the driving surface of the road and shall be randomly scattered across the cut area. • Damage to culvert markers as determined by the Project Supervisor or his appointee will result in a damage assessment of $10.00 for each damaged marker. The damage assessment will be deducted from the payment due for work performed. • Cutting swaths not meeting the minimum width for mowing will be deducted from the total mileage unless approved by the Project Supervisor. • No work shall commence under this agreement until Contractor is in receipt of a Notice to Proceed and Project Supervisor identifies which roads or part thereof shall be mowed.
