Specifications include, but are not limited to: Improve Seaside State Park by implementing a “Passive Park” concept and bringing the park up to the standards of CT State Parks. The proposed work includes the following: - Public engagement efforts - Demolition and removal of five abandoned and deteriorated buildings. - Salvage elements of the existing buildings for historic preservation purposes, installation of historical interpretative art and displays. - Civil work such as filling in holes left by demolished buildings, replacing two pedestrian bridges crossing wetlands, improving existing storm drainage systems, and seawall improvements. The seawall improvements will involve removing the eastern portion of the wall and concrete deck, repair and repoint the western section of the wall, and extending the sand beach by regrading and relocating soil. - Support and documentation for all necessary state and federal permitting - Paving of existing and newly designed roadways, paths etc. and installation of four parking areas. - Site utilities such as new electrical service, sewer improvements, and new water services. - Site furnishings such as benches, picnic tables, and bollards. - Installation of a crushed stone walking paths. - Landscaping includes establishing and refurbishing existing and proposed lawn areas, meadows, and dune areas, planting multiple new shade trees and numerous naturalized planting areas. - Replacement of the water service into the property. - Perimeter fencing and vehicular control structures as needed. - Infrastructure for EV charging stations. EV charging stations to be installed by DEEP through a separate vendor. - New toilet facility. - Storage space for equipment storage. - Updates and repairs to existing kayak launch. - Accessible pathways to the seawall.
