Specifications include, but are not limited to: the removal of exiting material, subgrade preparation/compaction, installation of aggregate base and installation of HMA, base and surface coarse. The pathway measures approximately seven hundred (700) linear foot by eleven (8) feet wide with a twenty (25) foot by twenty (25) foot turnaround area adjacent to the Amtrak Fuel Station. In addition, the pathway will crossover five (5) at-grade crossings and connect to an existing HMA service road. The Google Earth image defines general paving limits and project scope. Contractor is responsible for taking all measurements needed to establish quantity. Preparation for HMA installation includes removal of existing material, grading and compacting the existing gravel base/subgrade. Install 4” of aggregate base material required to meet the LDOT specifications for light-duty traffic. Removed material is to be properly stockpiled onsite on polyethylene for disposal by Amtrak. Installation of the new HMA is to be six (6) inches in thickness; four (4) inches of base course and two (2) inches of surface course. See attachment B for limits of HMA installation. New pavement edge is to be minimum eight (8) foot way from adjacent track structure. Elevation of the pathway is to be adjusted to allow for positive water flow away from the adjacent track with a two (2) percent grade avoiding water ponding on the new pathway.
