Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Contractor shall provide and staff an on-campus pharmacy management service at the IMHI campus. Services shall include, but not be limited to: • Operation of an Iowa-licensed pharmacy on-site at the IMHI; • Fulfillment and distribution of medication orders; • Consultation services available 24/7; • Provision of an adequate drug inventory to meet the needs of IMHI patients; • Provision of fax machine and fax machine service to at least three patient wards with the possibility of adding more if additional patient wards are opened up; and • Provision and maintenance of records to the Agency. Throughout the provision of these services, Contractor shall meet the laws, rules, and requirements of national and state regulators that IMHI is subject to, including but not limited to: The Joint Commission, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, Iowa Board of Pharmacy, and other federal and state regulatory agencies as applicable. The purpose of this RFP is to solicit proposals that will enable the Department of Health and Human Services (Agency) to select the most qualified contractor to provide pharmacy management services, licensed on-site pharmacy services, and procurement and distribution of drug inventory, at the Agency’s Independence Mental Health Institute (IMHI) located in Independence, Iowa. The Agency is seeking the best solution(s) to serve two distinct inpatient resident populations on the IMHI campus: Adults (male and female) on one ward and children and adolescents (male and female) on two wards. The Agency is interested in pharmacy services for a licensed on-campus pharmacy. Therefore, bidders are asked to provide a competitive bid in response to this RFP for these populations. The winning bidder shall be able to obtain necessary Board of Pharmacy permits/licenses to staff and operate a licensed pharmacy in the State of Iowa.
