Specifications include, but are not limited to: The contracted vendor shall provide a 2-day school safety conference according to the following requirements: 1. Dates: June 13-14, 2024 2. Provide training in best practices for school safety through the lens of mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery (prevention, intervention, postvention). 3. For 750-900 participants. a. Participants will include school safety specialists, administration personnel, school-based mental health professionals, school resource officers, teachers, special education staff/teachers, and others who support school safety within LEAs. 4. These dedicated dollars need to be spent before June 30, 2024. 5. Topics will include: a. Behavioral threat assessment b. Community engagement c. Crisis response and emergency management for schools d. Data analysis and key findings e. Emergency medical response for non-first responders f. How school climate improves school safety g. Human trafficking awareness h. Mental health interventions i. Recovery and reunification 6. 6. Some of the events during the conference shall include: a. Presentations and breakout sessions that will include opportunities for team collaboration and interactive training. b. Allow for time and space to be available during the conference where participants can network with each other and work collaboratively as teams. c. On the second day of the conference, include hands-on experiences such as an active threat on the school bus, reunification exercise, and other items. USBE has contacts for these areas and can coordinate with the vendor after an award is made. 7. The vendor will be responsible for: a. securing venue(s) that include a space for resource booths, i. The conference should take place at a location that is central to the participants, preferably in Salt Lake County or Utah County (along the Wasatch Front), in a building that has the resources and space to accommodate the needs of this conference. ii. Resource booths would include SafeUT, Utah Office of Substance Use and Mental Health, Utah Dept. of Public Safety, and others. b. arranging a room block at a nearby hotel with a conference webpage for reservations, i. Hotel/travel shall be the responsibility of the participants. The vendor shall work with one or more nearby hotels to arrange for discounts for participants to use. c. creating a flyer for advertising, i. USBE will distribute the announcement through listservs. d. creating and managing participant registration; and e. arranging presenters and trainers for the two days. 8. USBE will coordinate with the vendor regularly and give guidance regarding the venue, planning, implementation, and approval for presenters. USBE will be actively involved in managing registration and staff will be available the days of the conference to assist with check-in and other logistics.
