Specifications include, but are not limited to: Swimming instruction targeting ages 5 – 12. The swimming instruction will be offered to all skill levels and will take place between Monday – Friday within state facility operational times. The three facilities that will be targeted are: 1. Lincoln Woods State Park, Lincoln, RI. 2. Goddard Park, Warwick, RI, and 3. Roger Wheeler State Beach, Narragansett, RI. The programming will run from mid-June to mid-August at these locations. Programming will be offered 3 days per week at Lincoln Woods, and two days per week at the other two locations. The lessons will be broken down by age and ability and vendor will determine the schedule. The classes will be 30-45 minutes in duration and will emphasize water safety, skill, and stroke development in an open water swimming environment. For example, beginning swimmers will learn how to be more comfortable in the water and basic stroke movements, while more advanced swimmers will learn stroke technique, endurance, and safety skills. In addition to holding the classes, DEM would like the vendor to have some mechanism for taking reservations as well as a capacity for walk-in registration. For instance, if the vendor is targeting classes of 10 students, and only 5 sign up ahead of time, the remaining 5 can be offered on site at the time of the class. DEM would like the vendor to offer classes with a low student to instructor ratio as determined by current industry standards, while at the same time optimizing the impact of the program by teaching as many students as possible during the season. In addition, it is preferred that the Vendor have at least one staff member proficient in Spanish.
