Portland Activities & Athletics League (PAAL) is a 501(c)(3) organization that aims to prevent juvenile violence and crime by providing athletic, recreational, and educational opportunities to youth. PAAL programming provides resources to support and empower youth while providing constructive use of time during after school hours. PAAL’s model is derived from the National Police Activities League (PAL), which is founded on the principle that the police and the communities they serve both benefit when they have positive and productive relationships with one another. This partnership will allow the City and PAAL to continue in fulfilling the mission of building relationships with the law enforcement community and service professionals by providing pro social activities that will keep youth engaged to prevent involvement in juvenile violence. PAAL partners with volunteer law enforcement officers and service professionals to offer a variety of athletic and recreational activities that foster an environment of safety, trust and belonging to inspire youth to achieve greatness through mentoring, athletics, academic and leadership programs.
