Specifications include, but are not limited to: To address and support teachers who are seeking a standard license, Jackson Public School District (JPSD) is seeking an accredited college or university partner to provide virtually and/or hybrid model of required courses needed for a teacher to earn a standard 5-year license for up to the next three (3) years. The College/University partner is responsible for ensuring that each participant meets the admission criteria of the program. The district will help to identify potential candidates. Additionally, the university partner must agree to release the transcripts to JPSD of all participants that participate in the program and complete a FERPA release agreement. The school district is willing to provide a space to facilitate the hybrid classroom design. JPSD will pay for those teachers that successfully complete the program. The partner must have an approved traditional or nontraditional educator preparation program by the Mississippi Board of Education on or before July 1, 2024. The courses are as follows: • Classroom Management (or course equivalent): 3 credit hours • Data, Analysis, and Evaluation (or course equivalent): 3 credit hours • Introduction to Special Education (or course equivalent): 3 credit hours • Internship/Practicum: 6 credit hours The courses are described in subsequent paragraphs.
