Specifications include, but are not limited to: The New Mexico Department of Transportation seeks to enhance its roadways and the traveler experience by creating a statewide highway corridor aesthetic plan that is informed by each area’s unique scenic, historic, archeological, cultural, and natural features. The selected offeror shall gather input from the public and stakeholders and develop distinct aesthetic themes for facilities in each region while still maintaining some state-wide commonalities. For each area shown in Appendix A-1, the selected offeror shall identify communities and develop palettes for different corridors within those areas. These palettes must include colors, textures, patterns, and artistic themes that will be incorporated in various materials commonly used in projects and in the roadside environment. The Department will use this effort to guide aesthetic treatments for future projects. Offerors should refer to NMDOT’s Aesthetics Manual “Aesthetic Considerations for Structural Project Development, Execution, and Maintenance,” (found in Appendix A-2) for guidance and more information regarding the Department’s aesthetic treatments. The AASHTO 'Roadside Design Guide' should be referenced to ensure that engineering requirements are observed. Please note: This is a Sole Source Notification.
