Specifications include, but are not limited to: Interpreter and/or Translation Services shall be provided, on an “as needed” basis to the City. The City of Phoenix does not guarantee any amount of work during the term of this contract. A. The Contractor shall provide specialized interpretation and/or translation including, but not limited to medical, scientific, legal, or educational terminology, utilizing: 1. Certified Interpreter and/or Translators; and/or 2. Qualified (Non-Certified) Interpreters and/or Translators. A. Interpreter and Translator Requirements: 1. Contractor shall provide interpreters and/or translators with the education and expertise required by the specific situation. Interpreters and/or translators under this contract shall be classified according to their education and skill level. Contractor shall indicate the knowledge and skill level of all key personnel under this contract and provide appropriate documentation of the specialty stated. 2. Interpreters and/or translators shall be screened and tested for proficiency in both written English and the target language(s) with affiliation/accreditation by the American Translators Association (www.atanet.org) or have other credentials or certifications that are comparable to or exceed the standards of the American Translators Association. Attach credentials and certifications to your Statement of Qualifications. 3. Interpreters and/or translators shall be proficient in consecutive interpretation in which the interpreter listens to spoken statements of varying length in one language, and at the conclusion of the statement, translates it orally into another language. The interpreter must be proficient in absorbing the information, mentally retaining it, and accurately transferring it into another language from which it is spoken.
