Specifications include, but are not limited to: The successful vendor(s) shall provide Veterinary services, including, but not limited to: various exams, diagnostic lab work, equine dentistry, vaccinations, wound management, lameness evaluation, etc. The vendor(s) will also make recommendations to the Kentucky Horse Park as it relates to the Veterinary care of both foals and adult horses. Chiropractic and acupuncture services may be offered through an outsourced specialist if the vendor(s) does not offer this service. On many occasions the KHP may look to the Veterinarian to fill the medications that the Veterinarian prescribes for the park's horses; however, the Kentucky Horse Park reserves the right to fill these prescriptions where it chooses. Veterinary services are to be performed on the grounds of the Kentucky Horse Park; however, there are emergency occasions where the horse must be hospitalized for surgery or other 24/7 care needed. The vendor(s) must offer a full service equine hospital and surgical suite. Emergency services should be available 24 hours/day, seven (7) days/week through the primary holder or assigned surrogate.
