Specifications include, but are not limited to: Upon Contract award, the awarded respondent shall perform work in accordance with the following specifications: (a) General Specifications i. Repair and/or refinish to a “like new condition”, for the duration of this contract, all finished wood. “Like new condition” is defined as: Free from scratches, chips, scrapes, mars, worn surfaces, etc. with an even color, completely blended with the existing finish. Finish is to be the same or as equivalent as possible in appearance and character as new. ii. Furnish all labor, materials, tools equipment and appliances as may be necessary to repair, remove and/or refinish, on an on-call basis, all scratches, chips, scrapes, marred, faded or worn surfaces of all wood trim, case work, paneling wainscoting, counters, cabinets, desks, tables, chairs, doors and similar items within the State Capitol Building, Legislative Office Building (LOB), the underground concourse between the Capitol and LOB, the Old State House, and other areas as may be directed by the staff of the Office of Legislative Management and/or its designated representatives. iii. Be capable of working with all species, grains and cuts of wood matching the color, sheen and finish which exists or as he/she may be directed by the staff of the Office of Legislative Management and/or its designated representatives. iv. Adjust the repair and/or refinishing system to the type of refinishing or repair, the species, the grain, the use, the sheen and the finish of the item. The process shall be in accordance with the Architectural Woodwork Institute (AWI) standards for premium or custom grade finishes. v. Completely blend repairs with the existing finish so that the limits of the repair are totally indiscernible. The awarded respondent shall review with the CGA representative prior to commencing any operation the method, materials and process being proposed for use. If requested, the CGA representative may require a separate sample to ensure an acceptable finish and will provide written approval prior to proceeding with the work. vi. Ensure all finishes shall be no less than a custom grade finish as defined by the AWI. vii. Let surfaces dry a minimum 72 hours before applying any stain or coatings. viii. Wood surfaces shall be stained to match the existing surface. Allow stain to dry 2 to 4 hours before applying protective finishes. ix. Acceptable Refinishing Material Include 1. Remover - Specialty Environmental Technologies, Citristrip Paint and Varnish gel or equal and approved. 2. Steel wool - "00" and "000" 3. Sandpaper - Wet-or-Dry 200, 220, 400 and 600 grit. 4. Wash down - Lacquer thinner preferred. Plain denatured alcohol is also acceptable. 5. Cloths - coarse fiber (towel like) cloths for initial wipe down of paint remover. Soft lint-free (new material) for the application and wipe down of stain. x. Non-Acceptable Refinishing Materials Include 1. Power tools of any kind (sanders, buffers, spray equipment, etc.); 2. Alkaline or water base paint removers. 3. Paint removers containing paraffin. 4. Sandpaper coarser than 200 grit. 5. Inorganic or chemical stains. xi. Upon completion of work the awarded respondent shall reinstall all hardware
