Specifications include, but are not limited to: 4.1 This permit is established to provide Agricultural Services in the form of no till crop production on approximately 50 acres at Buck Creek Wildlife Area in accordance with the attached permits and maps. Total acres available may vary each year. 4.2 Agricultural activities on these lands are detailed on the Annual Permit and attached tract map. Permittee must recognize that the Department is utilizing farming permits solely for the benefit of wildlife on land they control, and that agricultural practices and conditions may differ from those commonly used in the private sector. They must also recognize and understand that wildlife management and public use constitute the primary operation objectives for the Buck Creek Wildlife Area. Farming practices are utilized as a method of land management to provide habitat conditions necessary for the well-being of a diverse population of wildlife species. 4.3. The period of the permit will be from the date of award, for three years to December 31, 2026. Two additional terms may be available upon mutual consent of both parties: the second term will be 3 years in length and the third term will be 3 years in length. If all terms are carried out by mutual consent, Permittee will retain farming privileges for a total of 9 years under the same terms and conditions. 4.4. Cash bid per acre given by the successful bidder will be used as the compensation rate for all crop years. Total compensation for each year will be paid in two equal payments no later than April 1 and December 1 each calendar year. Permittee will complete the “Field Activity Report “and submit with the final payment. 4.5. Failure of the permittee to comply with terms of the agriculture permit or annual permit shall be considered cause for revocation of the agriculture permit. 4.6. Sub-permitting of Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks agricultural land is strictly prohibited. 4.7. Permittee will leave outer 6 rows of crops left standing in the field as the State’s share, with the exception of soybeans. All soybeans planted will be harvested and retained by the permittee. Location of crops left standing will be designated by the Area Wildlife Manager. 4.8. Unauthorized crop changes or failure to plant designated crops and fields may result in revocation of the agricultural permit and loss of any future rights of the Department’s agricultural lands. Necessary crop changes, including type, location etc., due to unforeseen circumstances may be allowed only through written authorization by the Wildlife Area Manager. 4.9. Grazing, haying, mowing, or tillage on undesignated lands owned by the Department is prohibited.
