Specifications include, but are not limited to: 1. Compliance with DHEC Regulation 61-7, Section 502 pertaining to South Carolina DHEC Medical Control Physicians Workshop and continuing education requirements; 2. Quality assurance of patient care including development of protocols, standing orders, training, policies and procedures; 3. Direct and oversee quality improvement programs based on evidence-supported practices to advance clinical performance in EMS. 4. Provide high-quality education and training to EMTs and paramedics in coordination with Fire Rescues EMS Division at reasonable intervals. 5. Support the precepting, continuing education, certification, and re-certification of our staff. 6. Act as a liaison with the Hilton Head Hospital Emergency Department Director and other departments within the hospital on issues that affect emergency care, offisland emergency medical transports, and extended patient offload times; 7. Approval of medication and techniques permitted for field use; 8. Conduct post-case reviews of incidents and complaint investigations; 9. The medical control physician may withdraw at his/her discretion, the authorization for personnel to perform any or all patient care procedure(s). 10. Maintain reasonable attendance at required meetings as scheduled by Fire Rescue; 11. Assist with the oversight of EMTs and paramedics in the performance of their duties; a. Evaluation of incident response and care; b. Assessment of needed remedial training; c. Participation in Patient Event Meetings using the Just Culture model; d. Work in conjunction with Battalion Chief of EMS on issues related to our EMS delivery system.
