Specifications include, but are not limited to: The following represents general objectives and benefits to be achieved as a result of this project. 1. Design of a sports lighting system to enhance the existing sports field lights to allow for remote and programable capabilities. The system should also reduce light spillage, glare, and enhance user experience. See Attachment A. 2. Remove and replace the existing sports lighting system with a new system. Existing infrastructure may remain as funding allows. 3. The system will come with a 10-year warranty that includes parts, labor, equipment needed for repairs as well as guaranteed light levels for that same period of time. 4. The field is to be lighted to 50 footcandles on the infield and 30 footcandles on the outfield. 5. Storage of materials will not be allowed on Park site and contractor must make other arrangements. 6. Contractor to make allowance for disposal of all material including but not limited to: concrete, lighting, conduit, and soil. City does not have a disposal site available for contractors. Removal and disposal of existing lighting and conduit, as needed, are a part of this project. City of Wichita staff will terminate the electricity to the lights prior to construction. CONTRACTOR RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Contractor is responsible for securing the construction area for up to 30 days following construction. This includes preventing vandalism. If vandalism occurs it will be the responsibility of the Contractor to replace. 2. Contractor shall only work during park hours, which are Mon-Sun: 8am-10pm. 3. Contractor is responsible for preventing damage to existing site amenities including existing grades and field conditions at each location. Contractor shall contact all public utilities (KS One Call) and the City for flagging of underground utilities in the construction zone 72-hours prior to start of any work. Public Works & Utilities at (316) 268-4555 is the contact for locating (private) park utilities. Contractor is responsible for all utilities. Any damage, including unacceptable turf damage, is to be repaired by contractor. Special attention shall be taken to protect existing trees on site. Any damage to trees shall be assessed at $100 fine per square inch of damage to any tree trunks. If a tree is disfigured and life expectancy is compromised or terminated, the contractor is responsible for replacing the tree at an equal or greater size. Protection for tree root zones that are within the construction area or along the access route shall be required. Fencing or wood mulch covering of root zones may be used. Protection of existing trees is of high importance. 4. Contractor is responsible for preventing damage to existing sidewalks and turf areas. Any damage (cracked sidewalks, ruts in turf areas) is to be repaired by the contractor. 5. Contractor is responsible for the disposal of all excavated materials and construction debris including but not limited to rocks, lumber, tree roots, sand, and vegetation. Site cleanup will be completed at the end of each workday, so no excavation material or construction debris remains on site.
