Specifications include, but are not limited to: Ultrathin Cold Milling: Transition milling will take place at the beginning and end of the project limits and abutting bridges and intersections. The transition milling shall transition from 5/8” to 0” in the 50 feet. Side Street Approach Milling will require the complete milling of the side street approach in the rare case where the approach pavement type is the same as the arterial street being paved but different than the pavement type of the majority of the side street. All work for milling will be subsidiary to the Ultrathin Bonded Asphalt Surface bid item. All millings from this project will need to be salvaged to either the West Maintenance Facility, 5801 W. 3rd St. N, or Northeast Maintenance Facility, 2901 E 33rd St. N. Delivery is incidental to the cost of milling and is not paid as a bid item. Application Rate: The target application rate of the ultrathin bonded overlay shall be 65 lbs. /sy. Longitudinal Construction Joints. All longitudinal paving joints shall conform to existing lane widths. No longitudinal paving joints will be allowed in the wheel paths of traffic lanes. Any specialized instances or deviations will require prior approval from the Engineer. Striping on Non-Overlaid Surfaces at Intersections. The continuation of Lane Lines, placement of Turn Arrows, and placement of Stop Bars on adjacent intersection surfaces (as directed by the Engineer) will be accomplished using MMA as reflected in the bid items. On adjacent intersections, additional 12” banding of the brick crosswalks, continental crosswalk markings, and stop bars will be completed on all legs of the adjacent intersection as determined by the Engineer. Quantities have been included for these sections. The placement shall follow the manufacture’s recommendations for preparation and application. Contractor must submit specifications for the product to the Engineer for approval prior to application. Separate bid items are provided for this type of striping.
