Specifications include, but are not limited to: This RFP is part of a longer-term, red-shouldered hawk territory monitoring project. The purpose of this project is to assess changes in red-shouldered hawk territory occupancy resulting from habitat management activities. Survey cells were selected for inclusion in this project based on modeled red-shouldered hawk habitat availability, as well as recent observations of red-shouldered hawks. Surveys completed under this RFP will help the DNR assess the effectiveness of habitat modeling efforts and establish a baseline for long-term territory monitoring. The DNR will provide the contractor with a prioritized list of cells to survey. The number of cells surveyed by the contractor will depend on the funding available, the amount of time needed to survey each cell, and the number of suitable survey days, as influenced by weather and contractor availability. Ideally, the contractor will be able to survey for up to 25 days during the survey window (March 15 through May 15). Complete call-broadcast surveys for red-shouldered hawks primarily between March 15, 2024, and May 15, 2024. Contractor will meet with the Contract Administrator (Nongame staff) before commencing surveys to become familiar with survey protocols, data sheets and equipment needed to complete the surveys. Surveys will require the use of a handheld GPS unit and megaphone or game call to broadcast calls. These units will be supplied by the Contract Administrator. The State requires the contractor to return these units at the completion of the contract, undamaged, or the contractor will be responsible for replacing the units. The contractor will need to supply a phone, tablet or computer for data entry. Contract Administrator will provide instruction on the use of survey equipment as needed. PROJECT TASKS:
