Specifications include, but are not limited to: Pavilion structure materials must consist of natural woods. No chemical pressure treated materials will be allowed. Species such as cedar, eastern white pine, Douglas fir, hemlock, or oak will be accepted. The Town would prefer the wood frame be constructed by traditional forms of joinery i.e., mortise and tenon or similar, but will consider metal plates or other fastening system. Contractor will be responsible for installing concrete footings that are sized appropriately to support the wood framed pavilion and installed to a depth at or below the regional frost line of 42” below ground surface. Contractors should plan on granular soil with occasional rocks during footing installation which is typical in New England. Furnish and install wood stain and sealer on structure (recommend premium quality). Asphalt shingle roof (architectural 40-yr), black, brown, or gray color. Site work including removal of loam and topsoil, ground leveling, installing pavilion floor post construction, and turf establishment will be completed by the Town of Windham Public Works department staff.
