Specifications include, but are not limited to: The resulting contract(s) should assist Members in preventing drug diversion in their facility or community; and/or dispose of unwanted medication while following all applicable laws and regulations. Responders are expected to provide all participating MMCAP Infuse Member facilities with the option to utilize a menu of the following services as part of the pharmaceutical waste program. • Personal medication disposal units that may be dispensed with an outpatient prescription, such as pouches, mail-back envelopes, or small containers • Personal or facility disposal/reusable sharps disposal units for used needles and other sharps • Larger facility-sized units, such as a container, bucket, or jug that may be placed in a nursing station or in-patient pharmacy • Secure drug take-back receptables that can be placed in an outpatient pharmacy, public agency, police departments, etc., to dispose of unwanted or expired medication from the community • Additional options for disposal of unused blister cards or other bulky pharmacy waste that cannot be sent to a reverse distributor
